Ashley Bloomfield has just fronted the Scottish Covid-19 inquiry, holding court for hours about New Zealand’s pandemic response. The irony is staggering. He will happily jet off and give evidence to a foreign panel, but when it comes to facing his own countrymen, the people whose lives he upended, he suddenly has nothing to say. Bloody coward.
