I'm told we don't choose our attractions. So if someone tells me they are attracted to (group), I must believe them.
But we do choose our responses. We choose what we say and do. If someone is attracted to minors, or animals, etc., we can sympathise (who would want to be in their shoes?) and we can support acknowledging a problem and managing it, as most people would with, say, an alcoholic.
However, just as sympathising with those struggling with gender dysphoria should not mean supporting actions which harm other men and women (access to sex segregated changing spaces, for example), so sympathy with harmful attractions should never mean allowing them in any form. As with the addict, abstinence is the only solution.
