Your frankness is such a relief Matua. What the politically correct neglect to understand is that concealing the true facts inevitably leads to speculation, and may therefore be more damaging.
I say it how I see it, based on facts and what is plainly in front of us. A lot of people get angry when they are confronted with truths they would rather ignore.
I spent 7 hours at North Shore hospital Emergency Room accompanying someone this week. A rich multicultural experience indeed. At seperate occasions, 3 Maori prisoners shackled to police plus police backup arrived and enjoyed priority treatment. Other Maori, usually barefoot and looking like they were fresh from the jungle arrived, one was a Maori dad with his teen son who had been very badly bashed in the eye. I heard the dad tell the nurse "Me and him was just mucking around at home and I couldn't help my sudden sharp reaction...". Plus a variety of others from various countries... ( I hope there's a taxpayer in their families). TIP: Avoid the ER if at all possible. If you have to go, go in the morning. We went early last Monday morning and the number of great unwashed grew progressively as the day went on. God only knows what Saturday night is like there. Take coffee and food because you can't leave the waiting room for fear you'll miss out when you're called. We were called in 5 times during the day as different people interviewed and assessed us and then it was back to the waiting room to await the next call. At least no one was rude or violent as often happens there. Big shout out to the nurses and doctors. They are all under immense pressure yet were unfailingly kind and polite.
I’ve seen it first-hand as well. Friday and Saturday nights are the worst from my experience. Or really, any day a benefit lands in the usual suspects’ bank accounts.
the good thing Matua is is this is why I subscribed - you see the issues clearly and have the platform - any political party would be wise to adopt these values and accredit the source -
Keep telling the truth - good to see others are now referencing you to further develop debate.
Great response to the ardent racists in our once united country of New Zealand.
The Partly Maori Party have continually stated that Maori cannot be racist !
But the greatest racist in the Labour Party - Willie Jackson , he of the multimillionaire Iwi mafia class correctly called out Ferris of the Partly Maori Party as a racist for stating it was racist for Labour to have non Maori support their candidate in the recent Maori electorate by - election.
And so it goes, reverting back to the intertribal warfare of two centuries ago.
Those who scream racism the loudest are those who in fact are the most racist in the country today.
Treat them with the contempt they deserve by ignoring such groundless accusations totally.
Identifying patterns is essential in science, but apparently it's racist (or sexist) in sociology? I would far prefer we identify problems accurately so that efforts to correct them are properly directed. All the ad hominem attacks on anyone speaking the truth designed to signal moral virtue on the part of those shouting them out are only damaging us all.
Well stated as always Matua! Another aspect is the so called spiritual superiority some claim Maori hold over the environment & how nature is managed, that one also needs a conversation 🤔 all New Zealanders are guardians of our environment as far as I’m concerned…
Matua, I wouldn't worry too much about the BS coming out of the mouths of folks calling you racist.
It's a bit like the way people are treated that don't agree with what happening in Gaza and don't like the Israeli government, they are called antisemites.
Those that are misbehaving and acting like effin a-holes should be called out, no matter what their race, religion or political point of view is.
Therefore... keep up the good work amigo Matua, you've got a great way of putting matters on paper, and a bloody good sense of humour to go with it.
Thank you, Matua. Perhaps your observations are the beginning of us as a country acting with maturity to cure theses ills before it is too late - Yeah, right!
Well said. Concur 100%.
Cheers, Ritchie. Just saying how I see it.

I’ve noticed radio ads for 24hr medical centres in Taranaki recently. I’m supposing this is private health stepping in to fill this gap.
Well said. How we ever got to a place where we are offended by facts is terrifying. Hiding the truth is dangerously manipulative.

Well said Matua ,the racist card is a pretty good indication you are right over the target and the offenderati only have this to contribute
How did we ever get so PC we can't use statistics to inform ourselves and fix the root causes?
What you say is Truer than true. Some people are blind to facts. Love your writings, Matua.

It's a shame it needs to be said but you said it well.
