Dean Field is the biggest piece of shit of 2025

There are terrible people in this world, and then there is Dean Field, a man who has now secured his place as the most contemptible piece of human waste New Zealand has seen in years. Some crimes are so vile, so gutless, so far beyond any line of humanity that they stain the country. What Field allegedly did to his own children belongs in that category. He is the monster every child fears is hiding under the bed, except his were trapped in the same house with him.

For decades New Zealand has grappled with the uncomfortable statistics around child abuse and homicide. Every time another innocent kid dies we see the same public handwringing, the same shallow commentary, the same political excuses.

I’m not going to lie, I was surprised. This time, the killer was not Māori. This time the killer was not some caricature trotted out by talkback radio. This time the killer was a smug, clean-cut, babyfaced white Kiwi dad who decided his own children should die because he couldn’t handle rejection.

What kind of rancid coward murders the people who trust him the most?

Field did not “snap”. He did not “lose control”. He made a decision. If he could not keep his partner, he would destroy what she loved. He turned their home into a slaughterhouse and then a bonfire, as if burning their little bodies could somehow erase his own cruelty. There is no mental health excuse that covers that. There is no grief explanation that redeems it. He butchered three children. Full stop.

Weak little men like Field treat their partners like property and their kids like leverage. When the relationship ends, they weaponise their own children. Every time it happens, New Zealand tries to pretend it is rare, unpredictable, or a sudden occurrence.

It is a pattern, and Field followed it to the letter.

Field was not a dad. He was a walking warning sign wrapped in a bland, ordinary exterior. He was the kind of man who thinks his feelings matter more than his kids’ lives. The kind of man who would rather his children die than let their mother move

So yeah, I’ll call it what it is.

Dean Field is the biggest piece of shit of 2025.

A coward, a child-killer, and a domestic terrorist who inflicted hell on the tiniest, most defenceless people in his world. There is no forgiveness for that. There is no redemption for that. If there is any justice beyond this life, he can rot in whatever pit is reserved for parents who murder their own children.

The rest of New Zealand must sit with the horror of what he did, but we must also sit with the truth. Monsters like Field do not come out of nowhere. They are allowed to grow in silence, shielded by excuses, protected by polite society’s reluctance to confront male violence for what it is.

His children deserved to grow up.
