It is stomach-turning to even have to write this, but here we are. In what can only be described as a grotesque misuse of taxpayer dollars, the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa, a publicly funded health organisation, has published an article glorifying piss play, a fetish involving urination during sex. Yea bro, that’s where your taxes are going.
The article, disturbingly titled “The Wonderful, Wet, and Wild World of Piss Play”, reads less like health advice and more like something pulled straight from a fetish blog. Disguised as sexual health education, this content is graphic, explicit and completely inappropriate for a publicly funded platform.
But should we really be surprised? This is the same organisation that previously published an article about coprophilia, the act of eating faeces during sex. The same organisation that employed Benjamin "Bussy" Doyle.
Let that sink in. While ordinary Kiwis are doing it tough, trying to put food on the table, access basic healthcare, and raise their children in a safe and respectful society, this is how some of their money is being spent. On sexual kink guides that venture so far beyond the boundaries of decency, it is a wonder they were ever approved.
This is not about being conservative or anti-sex. It is about standards. Public health funding should go toward preventing disease, promoting mental and physical well-being, and supporting vulnerable communities. It should not be used to promote niche sexual fetishes that most New Zealanders find disturbing, degrading and completely unnecessary in the context of a health organisation.
We are being told that this is about inclusion, about breaking down taboos. Inclusion does not mean that every extreme practice deserves a taxpayer-funded how-to guide. There is a difference between promoting sexual safety and promoting content that many would rightly describe as pornographic.
It is deeply disappointing that an organisation which once played a critical role in the fight against HIV has deteriorated into publishing this sort of content. What message does this send to young people, to the public? That every kink, no matter how disturbing, belongs in our public institutions?
The Ministry of Health must take accountability for the funding that flows to the Burnett Foundation. Who approved this content? Why was it allowed to be published? What oversight, if any, is in place to ensure that public money is spent with respect and responsibility?
If the Burnett Foundation wants to continue publishing sexually explicit fetish content, it can do so with private money. But not one more dollar of taxpayer funding should be spent on promoting urination or faeces as part of sex education. New Zealanders deserve better than this sewage masquerading as public health information.
Horrendous
Defund them!
Its about time the govt actually looked at what it is funding - bit like DOGE. Where is the money actually going and for what purpose. This Burnett Foundation has sunk to the lowest of the lows and should be immediately defunded. And yesterday would be even better. Our taxes paying for this deprivation? Totally gross. These actions are not normal in any relationship. They are only for the mentally sick.
