This week, Green MP Benjamin "Bussy" Doyle resurfaced on his locked-down Instagram, posting a video urging his "rainbow gang" to respond to the government's draft Relationships and Sexuality Education Framework, which will shape New Zealand's school curriculum by 2027. He highlighted that feedback submissions close on May 9, 2025, and stressed the Minister wants to hear from teachers, young people, and the rainbow community.
Doyle should be the last person offering input on sexual education for young people.
It was just weeks ago that Doyle was exposed for posting pedophile-associated symbols on the very same Instagram account. Alongside that, he shared photos of his child with disturbing captions like "Bussy Galore." When finally confronted by the media, Doyle gave pre-packaged excuses while journalists lobbed him soft, predictable questions. It was a performance - not accountability.
The fact that the Green Party still believes he’s an appropriate voice for sexual education issues is beyond sickening. Let's not forget, this is the same man who once proudly said while he was a teacher he preferred hanging out with children at lunchtime rather than adults his own age. This is the same man who wrote revolting material about SCAT for one of New Zealand's most controversial organisations, the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa.
And yet, after all of this, Doyle keeps his job.
Contrast that with Phil Goff - New Zealand’s former High Commissioner to the UK - who lost his position over comments about President Donald Trump. Think about that. Goff lost his diplomatic career over a political opinion. Meanwhile, Doyle posts highly sexualised content mixed with symbols identified by the FBI as pedophilic, and nothing happens. No resignation. No expulsion. No serious consequences.
I refuse to stay silent about this, and neither should you. This man should not be anywhere near discussions about our children's education - and it’s disgraceful that he still holds office.
A big thanks to for sharing the original video on her X account. If you’re not already following Penny Marie, you can find her on Substack at www.pennymarie.nz or on X at @pennymarienz.
Oh, and if you missed this today:
So pleased you are still keeping eyes on this. Thank you
Completely agree. Why is parliament ignoring this nonsense? It's insanity and they need to be held to account.
