In yesterday’s waka-wreck of an interview with Jack Tame, Oriini Kaipara was forced to confront her own words: “I thought that as long as I don’t get a result that’s less than 80% Māori I’ll be happy.”
I'm one of the people who have always loved the art of the interview and as much as I have tried Jack just fails to impress. I watched him trying to interview Stan Grant. It was a fawning embarrassment. He asked Stan for tips at one point!
So, after your commentary I tried to watch him interview this young woman but gave up. She looks unwell. Not just physically but psychically unwell. And yet there she was in the first few moments of the interview trying to give us all advice on how to live our lives. I wish her well. I hope she doesn't get the MP job but suspect she might.
I don't think she will serve either herself our her nation well. She needs to go on a journey of discovery somewhere but I don't think that will happen either. My wife made other predictions about her that I will not share.
Funny you say that, David. Quite a few commentators on X have pointed out her gaunt appearance and the noticeable change in how she looks compared to 2018. Some are even speculating that she might be on meth, which I don’t fault them for suggesting. It could just as easily be health issues, or even Ozempic, at the end of the day, Aunty doesn’t look healthy.
Apart from gently bring up the DNA thing, Tame was pathetic, for example he could have asked, ‘Can you accept that some people may see separate rights for Māori as a form of apartheid that devalues our democratic system?’

Jack Tame just doesn't hack it. Mostly gives his interviewees very soft rides.

Please stop calling her Aunty 😂.
Not all Aunty’s are awful. Some (like me) are pretty awesome! We don’t want our title reduced to such low standards! 🤣🤣🤣
Yip - agreeing with the others - she looks gaunt and unwell - she’s definitely unhinged…
Fancy wanting pure blood?!! Ha! Her ancestors knew you need to mix it up to be strong…
Ah well…
Lightweights in my book…tv fluff and tickle - wasted moments I’ll never get back listening to her and her ilk…
Looking at both interviews, I think they closed Lake Alice too early. Any amount of shock treatment is not going to cure this person. 100% nutter.
