Why is flying the flag now “racist” in the West

Thankfully here in New Zealand, we have not yet seen the same level of persecution that is playing out across the United Kingdom. Over there, ordinary English patriots are standing up against unchecked immigration and the endless stream of faux asylum seekers being handed hotel rooms, mobile phones and meals, all paid for by the taxpayer. Instead of being listened to, these men and women are being arrested, vilified and branded criminals simply for defending their country’s culture and heritage.

The latest pushback against this comes under the banner of “Operation Raise the Colours”, a grassroots movement of patriots determined to defend England’s national identity. Of course, the backlash has been fierce. Far-left groups and pro-immigration activists have tried to smear it from day one. Mainstream media outlets, parroting the same tired narrative, now label anyone who dares to raise a Union Jack or a St George’s Cross flag as a “racist” or “far-right extremist”.

Groups like HOPE not hate have gone so far as to demonise the organisers, painting them as dangerous radicals. The media has dug up old histories and affiliations to discredit the movement, hoping to scare ordinary people away from showing pride in their nation. The tactic is obvious - silence dissent, rewrite history, and make patriotism a crime.

Meanwhile, every time you scroll through X, you see the same story of men and women being arrested for nothing more than flying their national flag. The same flag generations before proudly fought and died under is now treated like a symbol of hate. The St George’s Cross is being pushed as the “new swastika” in the eyes of the woke establishment. It is bloody terrifying.

It is not just the UK. Across the ditch in Australia, people are now being arrested for displaying their national flag. Just this weekend, a man counter-protesting yet another “Free Palestine” rally was detained by police; his “crime” was waving the Australian flag. According to the mainstream outlets like 9News, one of Australia’s biggest propaganda machines, this was presented as some sort of extremist provocation. The message seems to be that pride in your country is no longer allowed.

We have even seen the same trend creeping into New Zealand. During the hikoi opposing ACT’s Treaty Principles Bill, those standing up for New Zealand’s democratic system and waving the national flag were quickly vilified and shouted down. The movement was painted as divisive, even though the Bill itself was not even going to pass.

This is the dangerous path the western world is on. Step by step, flag by flag, patriotism is being criminalised. The very act of showing pride in your country has become a revolutionary act, and that should terrify every freedom-loving Kiwi.

If things continue this way, what hope is left for the West? When you cannot even raise your flag without being called a racist, the foundations of our civilisation are already crumbling.
