Genuine question: does Takuta Ferris suffer from learning difficulties? Because what he has been up to lately suggests he might.
Last week, Ferris took to social media to express shock that Labour supporters of various ethnicities were campaigning in Tāmaki Makaurau. Over an image of Labour MPs and volunteers campaigning for Peeni Henare, he wrote:
"This blows my mind!! Indians, Asians, Black and Pākehā campaigning to take a Māori seat from Māori"
He added multiple “exploding head” emojis and pictures of himself looking confused and shaking his head.
Then, on the day of the Tāmaki Makaurau byelection, he posted another baffling social media update. In the image, he walked around with a punnet of food and the words “VOTE ORINI [Sic] TODAY!!” emblazoned in bold type.
He is so thick he can’t even spell her name correctly.
Ferris later claimed ignorance of the rules prohibiting influencing voters on election day:
"It was a simple oversight. The byelection is done now anyway. The result is the result. I doubt any sort of post on the day would have influenced the result," he said.

Genuine question again: how the hell did this low-IQ idiot make it into Parliament? His apparent intellectual capacity is about the same as today’s temperature in Kaitaia. Earlier this year, during a video call about the Treaty Principles Bill, Ferris spent the entire time picking his nose and eating food on camera. There’s zero evidence he takes his job seriously.
Ferris is far from an isolated case. Take a good look at Parliament. It is filled with people who are completely unfit for office. New Zealand’s legislative body has become a playground for the incapable.
