One thing I’ve been thinking about is how NZ First didn’t support David Seymour’s Treaty Principles Bill. I thought that was strange at the time, but I know there’s been some historical personal beef between them. Hopefully David’s the bigger man here and backs this bill. If Luxon backs it, it would show he’s got a backbone, and I’d say it’ll work in his favour at the election.
How disappointing Peters, Seymour and Luxon couldn't work something out on the Treaty Principals Bill. If it takes a binding referendum to resolve our differences, I'm all for it. Frankly though, I don't think it will get over the line.
How interesting that new initiatives only come out when the votes are being sought.
I’ll take back my negativity and say “Great news NZ First”. I hope ACT back it. We all know Luxon won’t. And I hope Im wrong with my latter comments too.
I reckon we could all be surprised and he might back it, because at the end of the day it’s a binding referendum and it’s up to the public to decide whether we want Māori seats or not. I’m sure he gets just as pissed off as I do watching, at times, only one Te Pāti Māori MP turn up to Question Time. They come across as the laziest bunch in Parliament and they’ve done nothing but look after themselves.
I hope Luxon does surprise us. And I agree, I do think he would get more votes if he did back it.
I'm still bamboozled as to why Luxon said he didn't like 'anything' about Seymour's Treaty Principles Bill. That alone made him look like a complete prat... he needs a bloody spine.
I think they have read the mood of not just this country but the world ATM. Did you see the powerful interview of Jacinta Price by Karl Stefanovich? Especially where she referenced Australians of a leftish or Chardonnay socialist persuasion paying lip service to Aboriginal male “customary rights” (code for bashing of kids and women) Well worth a watch.
PS I sat with tears for much of this interview. I think they were genuine too!
Well done Winston. I doubted NZF resolve on racial privilege thinking they talked the talk but fell short when it came to doing anything. Glad I appear to be wrong. Luxon now needs to get behind this and give all New Zealanders a chance to honour the intent of MMP and more importantly give a clear signal on the voting public's attitude to race based privilege in NZ.
While Winston's on a roll maybe he can ask the referendum on which Treaty is the legally binding version that parliament and the courts / tribunals should refer to - the English language or the Maori version and possibly on making English our official language.
Luxon hopefully will not be in a position to deny! Congratulations NZ First. No doubt ACT will support you!

Dont think Luxflakes will support it as it goes against his "controllers". The Nats will be very minor party come next election
I sure hope you are right Michele. Luxon is there for his own personal gains and ambitions.
and most of NZ.

Brilliant! Fingers crossed!!

A commenter on social media - X maybe, said they seem like something combined between a sloth and a howler monkey ...
Thanks. I just snorted beer out my nose 🤣

Cheers David, I must’ve missed it, so I’ve bookmarked it to watch tonight if I get a bit of time.
You might need a tissue or two.....
So it bring the issues out into Parliament for debate, provided that it is drawn from the 'biscuit tin'.
Perhaps this will also draw out the Uniparty to vocally push back against such a thing and therefore force it onto the agenda as an election issue.
Hmmm.
