Chris Hipkins is running scared, and it is pathetic to watch. This is the same man who gleefully shoved vaccine mandates down New Zealanders’ throats, swearing they were “safe and effective” while thousands were left injured, some permanently disabled, and some dead. He locked the country down, bankrupted businesses, ripped people from their dying loved ones, and then strutted to the podium every day to justify it. Now, when the Covid-19 Royal Commission calls for public accountability, Hipkins refuses to front up. He hides behind weak excuses about the terms of reference and trots out his tired “nooses hung from trees” sob story. Funny how he went completely silent earlier this year when Rawiri Waititi waved a noose in Parliament. That victim act is clearly a pick and choose game for Hipkins.
While he loves to claim his personal life is “off limits”, it tells you everything about the man’s character. Multiple tips that have landed in my inbox allege Hipkins screwed up his own marriage after an affair and is now in a messy co-parenting scrap with his ex-wife. The word is that his push for shared custody is not driven by fatherly devotion, but by the desire to dodge paying child support. If true, it is the same pattern he has shown in politics, self-interest first, honesty last. He could not be straight with the public during Covid, and allegedly, he cannot even be straight with his own family.
Hipkins is a manipulative, lying, self-serving fraud who cowers when the pressure comes on. He had no problem ruling the country by fear and branding dissenters as dangerous, but now he is too bloody spineless to answer for his decisions in public. This is the man the left wants to put back in the prime minister’s chair, a coward who runs from the truth in the Beehive, in front of the nation, and even in his own home.
