Yep…..ZB very conscious and concerned with not raising the “race card”….which translates as lacking the intestinal fortitude or courage to say it’s Māori we’re talking about. Do they receive money from NZ on Air?
It’s not only Māori abusing their kids or committing child homicides, but they’re clearly the most overrepresented in the stats. Until the mainstream media stop hiding the truth about who’s mostly responsible, nothing will change. I made the Kati Te Kohuru Tamariki image above to be confronting, because Māori need to be confronted. Māori politicians should be leading that conversation, but they won’t - there’s no money in it for them.
I wish that all this posturing by TPM could be focused on this single statistic…and seeking to remedy it. The fact that children are deemed so special in Maori culture yet this! Something is not working.
Many of us “we” would love to be part of the solution - but like all true change - it requires personal responsibility- acknowledging errors - and vision and discipline to move towards something better.
Either way…Helen’s right in one aspect..to the outside world…it IS “we” that they see - they can’t distinguish- and nothing in their DEI education and media teaches them to. Maori are noble and disenfranchised..
Trouble is if Heather had said exactly who in the "we", her head may not be above ground for very long. It would need to be some one with security around them,.
Please keep banging on about this Matua. This madness must become mainstream and we must see national acknowledgement that baby bashing (& murder) is a Maori culture problem.
Yes Boris, and the numbers subscribing is growing which is a wonderful thing. Well done again, Matua...:) It's also time the pseudo representatives in our government are smoked out.
Maori are usually very quick to claim that they are over represented when it comes to anything to do with welfare, health, housing, education, etc. But when it comes to child abuse and child murders Maori are mostly always silent. Of course, we all know they are over represented in these behaviours. But hey, there is no benefit for them to admit this so it's the good old ostrich avoidance trick of hiding their heads in the sand. I strongly believe that the Ministry of Social Development has effectively got 'blood on its hands' because it is this agency that keeps on rewarding Maori mothers and their husbands or partners with generous benefits for every child pushed out into the world. Largely unplanned, definitely unwanted, and delivered time and again for financial gain alone.
We all know who is doing it... but if she had singled out Maori, the backlash would have been much worse. They would have dug up cases of child abuse committed by non-Maori - and don't get me wrong - they do exist - but we all know that the bulk of cases are committed by Maori. She would have been branded a racist, and the discussion would have ended there. We have to get past this stuff. Committing a crime is always committing a crime, regardless of race. We need to understand and enforce that, for the sake of the poor, unfortunate children who will not be saved.
Maori have always treated their young badly and their whanau close it down time for maori to step up and save their own kids from this continual abuse of their own
I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I think what Heather did was the best way to go about it. The 'we' has certainly made people prickle with their own discomfort of being associated with it, but perhaps, just perhaps, that is what is required. When 'we' start talking like 'we' are one nation again, from a patriotic perspective, then the finger pointing and 'us' and 'them' dwindles. Kiwi children are all of our concern. Maybe with a bit more prickly 'we' on the matter, less people will turn a blind eye or deaf ear to the sounds and signs of abuse in the House next door. Just a thought....

It’s a mess to be honest…
There's just no money in it for them, so they won't be interested.
And just imagine the reaction if she’d said who bashed their kids? 😳
Maybe it’ll take a strong reaction to finally force some change.
Totally agree Matua
She has tested the water.

TPM should be doing this.
STOP THE KILLING OF MĀORI BABIES
Call on Iwi and Māori Whānau to Take Responsibility
---
Far too many Māori babies are dying — not at the hands of the state, but within our own whānau.
This is not a government problem alone. This is our problem.
It is time for iwi, hapū, and Māori leadership to step up and stop the cycle of violence, neglect, and silence.
---
Why We Say Enough Is Enough:
Too many Māori pēpi are dying in extended whānau care.
We cannot ignore this any longer. These are our babies, our responsibility.
Whānau placements must be safe, not automatic.
Culture alone does not guarantee safety. Protection of pēpi must come first.
Iwi and Māori service providers must be held accountable.
Leadership must front up — not just when it’s convenient.
We must lead by example.
Tikanga is not a shield for silence. Manaaki means protecting our tamariki, not covering up harm.
---
We Demand:
✅ Immediate review of all whānau placements where pēpi have been harmed
✅ Transparent reporting on Māori child deaths in care
✅ Mandatory safety and background checks — even for extended whānau
✅ Iwi leadership to front the issue and implement solutions now
✅ A united Māori voice that says: "No more Māori babies will die on our watch."
