Yes you are so right, Hobsons Pledge has been critical when it comes to getting the people to understand how much democracy has been eroded in this country and that we can actually vote to get it back.

Love these people - they have kept reasoned logic in their argument and maintained dignity, even when the other side stooped to low bullying behaviour. They continue to receive my full support.

I live in an area where the voters voted to keep the ward. I've always voted for the best candidate with sensible policies irrespective of whether they were Maori or not.

If my rates now pay for the salary of an openly partial councillor who will prioritise Maoris at all costs. So be it.

This means that when voting in future, candidates who are Maori won't get my vote as they already have their own seats to push their own discriminatory agendas.

Taxation without representation is theft.

Hobson's Pledge are onto it, as are the Taxpayers' Union, but the Treaty provisions in the Gene Technology Bill make a complete nonsense of National's claim to be cutting red tape.

That Bill is chilling in its ramifications for all of us in the long term, and it is being snuck through under the cover of all sorts of little announcements, like yesterdays being allowed to advertise on Sundays.
