National isn’t selling trade. They’re selling the bloody country.

I am beyond sick of seeing National tweeting about how “great” this free trade deal with India is. Not cautious optimism. Not measured analysis. Evangelism. Day after day, post after post, like they’re running a fan account rather than a government-in-waiting.

What finally snapped it for me was watching National tweet about it.

For a man who is constantly marketed as a “Christian leader”, his message on Christmas was empty, transactional, and soulless. No values. No reflection. No responsibility. Just corporate waffle. Contrast that with the polished, emotive video messages he eagerly records for Ramadan or Eid. Those are warm. Those are deliberate. Those are carefully crafted to signal alignment.

With India, the mask slips. This isn’t about faith, values, or shared culture. It’s about numbers.

Luxon is obsessed with India. Not New Zealanders struggling with housing. Not infrastructure buckling under pressure. Not wages being flattened by endless labour supply. India. Markets. Scale. Growth charts. Immigration as leverage.

National isn’t pretending otherwise anymore.

This so-called “free trade” deal is being sold as exports and opportunity, while the real cost is quietly buried. Population inflows. More migration. More pressure. Less cohesion. Less bargaining power for workers. Less resemblance to the country many of us were born into.

They know exactly what follows these deals. They just don’t want to say it out loud.

That’s why I made the AI-powered video. Not for shock value, but because visuals cut through the gaslighting. Because people are told daily that what they are seeing with their own eyes isn’t happening. That noticing change is immoral. That asking questions is dangerous.
