If NZ does nothing about this don't be surprised if Australia acts. Maybe not this present government but theres a big Nationalist movement growing is Oz right now. Pauline Hanson is back polling well and even old Bob Katter is bigger than ever. It's the Nigel Farage phenomenon and Shane, Winston and Seymour are smelling the blood too.
Next poll for preferred prime minister needs to include Shane Jones, so I can give him my vote. It is about time we see a politician saying what they/we think.
True all that, however, there are criteria for Citizenship that must be followed:
"1. Residency Requirement:
You must have been a New Zealand resident for at least five years.
This means holding a residence visa or a permanent resident visa.
If you have a residence visa, all conditions attached to it must be met or cancelled.
2. Presence Requirement:
You must have been physically present in New Zealand for a total of at least 1,350 days within the five years prior to your application.
You must have spent at least 240 days in New Zealand in each of those five years.
You must intend to continue living in New Zealand indefinitely.
3. Character Requirement:
You must be of good character.
This includes having a clean criminal record for the five years preceding your application.
4. Language Requirement:
You must demonstrate an adequate knowledge of the English language.
This typically involves being able to hold a basic conversation in English."
So, are there stats proving that all these people have left after only 5 years here, and do we know the reasons why they left? Presently, with all the issues here in NZ, I don't blame them. However, looking into it, it seems to me that there are similar problems in Australia as here, so maybe more job opportunities and better pay would be the main lure?
