When I started work in 1981, a common sight when out and about in the central city during the day was a Police officer walking their beat, popping into shops and chatting to the proprietor.
For the past 4 years my current employer has been back in a Central city location and for the first couple of years the presence of beggars and other malcontents was stark.
Safety moments in meetings occasionally referenced incidents that staff had faced when leaving the office at the end of the day, or arriving early.
One noticeable difference after Oct 2023 and since the policy of reinstating beat Police (in twos these days) has been the almost complete lack of said malcontents/beggars with a consequential absence of the safety moments around staff safety.
A small change like this does have a positive effect for those of us going about our law abiding business. It's one example of something this Govt has gotten right.
A Labour coalition Govt would a retrograde step, evidenced from their last stint and the outpourings of social media nuttiness from the loons that would be in coalition with.
How can someone so stupid become an MP?
MMP.
