Just shows how these people are so delusioned and are not even bright enough to read the history of who they are supporting. Collect those at the next rally and transport them in Airbuses over there - one way ticket!

My comment is, do they know where Gaza is and do they know the history and what they are protesting about. For they seem ignorant of why and wherefor of the situation in Gaza.

Or...... are they protesting for the rights of Gays of Gaza. That would account for their insanity!

Ironically genuine Palestinian gays have got asylum in the only safe place for them in the Middle East, Israel.

A darkly satirical skit indeed! Cognitive dissonance doesn't even begin to explain it.

From my perspective Winston and the NZ government took the right decision on the vexed Israel/Palestine question. Personally I think the whole state of Israel is a miserable failure. They certainly failed to honour the original Balfour declaration's stated obligation to honour the rights of Palestinians. In short they have reaped what they have sown and in doing so have highlighted to the world how not to occupy lands. The pain and suffering they have visited upon generations of Palestinians is beyond imagination.

Not sure I agree at all with your depiction of Israel as a ‘colonial aggressor’. Who attacked whom in 1948 when Israel was finally recognised? And 1967. And 1973. And several other years in between & since. Who runs the only real democracy in the area? ‘They [Israel] have reaped what they have sown’ is a crazily ignorant statement. Have you ever been to the Middle East? You make many excellent comments on this forum David, but this one is way, way off target imho.

The stats in the most recent conflict illustrate keenly the inequality and lack of insight or understanding of Israelis generally. If you can't see that Boris there is no point in me trying to drag up more evidence of the eternal middle east conflict. No, I have not been to the Middle East and no desire either but that doesn't prevent me from both having an understanding and some feeling for Palestinians in their ancient homeland. But, we are allowed to have have seperate opinions and I respect yours too.

Thanks for the reply & respectful tone. Yes, we can disagree on this. And yes, the Middle East is complex. I don’t profess to have all the answers for what you rightfully referred to as a ‘vexed’ situation. I do however, with respect and not being a smart arse, suggest you read up on the history a bit more. ‘Ancient homeland’ is just plain wrong. ‘Palestine’ is not even that ancient a term compared to how long the Jews have been there and it certainly wasn’t the ‘homeland’ of a bunch of what are now ‘Gazans’ aka Jordanian Arabs. (I think it was Hadrian who introduced it cos he was pissed off with the Jews.). The ‘stats’ of the event/conflict suggest to me that if you commit a barbaric attack on innocent Israeli civilians, then you are gonna get your arse kicked. Israel is now a Superpower and they are tired of several of their neighbours trying to eradicate them. Whilst I feel for some of the people in Gaza, I back Israel’s right to bring this thing to an end in a manner of their choosing. Sadly I doubt even this latest generous peace offering will work. Thanks for hearing me out (if you’ve read this far…) 😃

Nah. If you substituted 'Hamas' for Israel you'd be closer to the truth.

Hamas are "Johnny Come Latelies" and in many ways the creation of Bibi and the hard right maddies of Israel....
