Some things in politics are so absurd they almost write themselves. One of the most glaring examples is the bizarre spectacle of groups like Gays for Gaza or Queers for Palestine. These are people who, from the comfort of safe, tolerant Western democracies, wave placards in solidarity with a cause that would see them killed if they actually lived under it.
Hamas executes LGBTQI+ people. This isn’t rumour, it’s documented fact. They have literally thrown men accused of being gay off rooftops to their deaths. There are no rainbow parades in Gaza. There are no Pride flags fluttering beside the Palestinian one. There is fear, repression, and deadly punishment for anyone who dares to live openly as queer.
In cities like Auckland, London, and San Francisco, you’ll find activists proudly holding banners declaring “Gays for Gaza” as if it’s the ultimate moral stance. Some of our very own rainbow politicians even get close enough to endorse it – Ricardo Menéndez March, for example, has been photographed standing next to these placards at Free Palestine rallies. These rallies have gone on for years, week after week, month after month. And what have they achieved? Absolutely nothing. Not a single shred of progress, not a single life improved, not even a dent in the situation they claim to be protesting about.

What they have achieved is exposing a level of cognitive dissonance so intense it borders on a psychiatric condition. Because let’s be honest: if you are gay, queer, or trans, and your idea of “solidarity” is supporting a group that would kill you for your identity, something is seriously broken in your thinking. It’s not resistance. It’s not justice. It’s not even irony anymore. It’s madness dressed up as activism.
These are the same people who demand inclusion and equality at home, but march under banners praising regimes that would push them off a building for who they are. The hypocrisy is staggering. The delusion is worse. The fact that some politicians are happy to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with this circus should be deeply concerning to anyone who actually cares about human rights.
My personal view is that these people need psychiatric help, because it is obvious they’re not all there. It almost feels satirical in some ways – like some dark comedy skit where the punchline is self-destruction. However, it’s not satire. These people are real, and they really believe in “Gays for Gaza” and “Queers for Palestine.” That, in itself, is the most disturbing part.
Just shows how these people are so delusioned and are not even bright enough to read the history of who they are supporting. Collect those at the next rally and transport them in Airbuses over there - one way ticket!
My comment is, do they know where Gaza is and do they know the history and what they are protesting about. For they seem ignorant of why and wherefor of the situation in Gaza.
Or...... are they protesting for the rights of Gays of Gaza. That would account for their insanity!
