Well said Matua , given our seemingly lax immigration policy , we need a firm policy to deport offenders of serious crime with no right to appeal.

In such cases as you've highlighted over the past week , these offenders need to be sent home asap , to save further drain on the taxpayer .

We need a minister who stops beating around the PC bush and get some legislation before government but I doubt it would get enough votes to pass

100% behind this. It is a privilege abused so off they should go!

If I moved overseas and broke the law, I’d completely expect to be deported.

100 percent Matua. I can’t think of one good reason why we shouldn’t . Hopefully Paul Goldsmith will think the same . Start a petition .

Right on again....Has this suggestion been put to Paul Goldsmith? Have a feeling he is "on the right track" but not sure how much backing he would get in Cabinet. Winston and David Seymour would probably get on board. I have the sense that it may well come as things deteriorate.

ACT and NZ First need to step up and say more about immigration. Winston used to be one of the loudest voices on the issue, but these days he's gone a little quiet.

100% agree! No mercy should be shown to serious offenders. None. If they cry refugee and claim they are at risk of being killed in their home country, then that is their problem. We already have far, far too many non-compatible immigrants coming into this country, the very least they should do is behave themselves. We spend way too much time in this country considering the needs of criminals and not considering the needs of disabled folk etc.

There's this: https://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2009/0051/latest/DLM1440849.html

Annoyingly, the longer they've been here, the worse a crime they can commit before being deported. Aussie has it right. But we should be enforcing what we have, I wonder if it isn't happening?

New Zealand has become far too soft on criminals, especially foreign ones. It’s like the government hands them a Kāinga Ora home and a benefit as a reward. The whole system is a bloody joke.
