Isn't it something when politicians have to state the absolute obvious, just to get through to the activist Left? In 2025, it shouldn't be controversial to say that biological males don't belong in women's sport. However, in today’s politically warped climate, that's exactly what Winston Peters has had to do.
In a direct post on X, the NZ First leader wrote:
"The state has no place in people’s bedrooms – and biological males have no place in women’s sports.”
Now, the government has followed through on a pre-election promise from NZ First. Sport NZ has officially scrapped its gender participation guidelines. These guidelines were introduced under a wave of ideology that had more to do with pleasing activists than protecting sport.
This move isn’t “anti” anyone. It doesn’t stop anyone from playing sport. What it does is protect fairness and safety for women and girls, who have been forced to compete in an increasingly distorted playing field.
Big Māori bloke banned from women's netball team in Australia
A male netball player born in Hamilton, New Zealand, has been banned from women’s competition in Victoria, Australia - a decision that has sparked debate but ultimately upholds the integrity and fairness of women’s sport.
Biological males have significant physical advantages. That’s not a political opinion, it’s a scientific fact. Allowing them to compete against women isn’t just unfair, it’s dangerous. The previous guidelines pushed by Sport NZ created confusion, pressure, and division across sporting codes, with many being told to ignore international rules in the name of “inclusion.”
Winston Peters and NZ First have drawn a line in the sand. They’ve said enough is enough. This is about restoring reality to the debate, and ensuring that Kiwi women and girls can train, compete, and thrive in sport without fear of injury or injustice.
For too long, sports policy was hijacked by ideology. This move is a welcome return to biology, logic, and truth. Good on Winston Peters for standing up for women, fairness, and common sense.
The ACT Party also welcomed the move, posting on X that the government had directed Sport NZ to withdraw its transgender guidelines. They said local sporting organisations would now decide who can participate in women’s sport, replacing “high minded diktats” with community control.
ACT said fairness should be the priority, and if people have concerns at their local club, they can now raise them directly instead of being fobbed off with bureaucratic excuses. “That’s how sport in New Zealand should work, driven by the people playing it,” the party wrote.
Why I’m starting to paywall most articles
Over the past couple of months, I’ve been blown away by how much support this Substack has had. It’s grown faster than I expected, and it’s clear there’s a real appetite for the kind of content I’m putting out - honest, unapologetic, and not afraid to call things for what they are, even if it pisses off the Māori elite and left-wing politicians.
Starting next week, more of my content will be moving behind a paywall. This helps protect my work and allows me to keep producing the kind of independent writing, political commentary and investigation stories you won’t find in mainstream media.
If you’ve been enjoying the content and want to support what I do, now’s the time - subscriptions are 50% off until this Sunday at midnight. That discount lasts for a full 12 months.

🔒 For Subscribers Only: Personal Reflections on Laurel Hubbard and the 2020 Summer Olympics
New Zealand should feel a deep sense of shame for putting Laurel Hubbard forward to represent our country at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Not because he’s transgender, I genuinely believe people should live how they want and be whoever they want to be. That’s not the issue here.
